Pre-Conference #1: Introducing Drupal8 CMS Framework
Drupal is one of the most popular CMS platforms currently available. There are more than a million reported Drupal sites, among them the Whitehouse, NBC and the Australian Government. As it is fully open-source with a huge developer community, Drupal is ideally suited as a universal web platform for missions and churches.

In this workshop we will get started with the latest Drupal v. 8 from install to basic configuration. This all-day pre-conference workshop is for people who know how to handle (web) applications and are not afraid of some work in command line. The goal is to show, in one day, how you can set up a basic website. I’ll also introduce best practices and give a few hints and teasers on how to exploit this feature rich CMS framework.

Attention: Due to limited space and hardware, this workshop is limited to 12 people.

Pre-Conference #2: Securing Your Network with Hacking Techniques
More and more, when securing your network, we need to look at it from a ‘hacker perspective’. In this workshop you’ll get some basics for this, you’ll learn how to use this perspective. I’ll cover subjects varying from OSI to vulnerability scanning. Also, we’ll make it practical by putting theory into practice. We’ll touch social engineering as well as make that practical by creating malicious stuff (all for the good of course). Aim of this workshop is to let you go home, or into the conference with a fresh look on it security, and how to make this practical in day-to-day work.

1a: The Secret Behind Certificates
In this session, I would like to discuss certificates. We all use them every day and more and more websites are equipped with them. As admins, we are responsible to install a certificate on out websites. In the past, most browsers accepted “errors” in a certificate, but today they are getting more and more strict. Any mistake made will result in the READ BAR!!

I will take a deep dive into certificates. How does SSL work? What’s the purpose of the private key. Where is the private key stored and where is the public key stored? What are the command errors and how can you avoid them?

If time permits I will end with some other examples for using certificates to secure your communications.

6b: Internet of Things (IoT) Botnets - Mirai and Beyond
More and more electronic devices are used for automating all kind of things. Think of your car, light switches, watches, solar panel inverters, etc. A lot of these devices are IP enabled and in some way connected to the Internet. The Internet of Things (IoT) is that part of the Internet where devices communicate with each other instead of with humans.

This IoT can be used as an immense botnet for the good or the bad. This has been proven by the Mirai software which is used to launch the biggest DDoS'es we know of. Even firewalls are not enough to stop this kind of misuse. In this talk we dive into the principles of an IoT botnet, we take a look at the Mirai software and discuss what's beyond this ...
